How the dashboard works

Dashboard description
This one-page dashboard helps you monitor and control business costs by breaking them down across time, products, locations, and categories. It's designed to give you instant clarity on where your money is going, and where you can cut waste or improve efficiency.
KPI summary
KPI cards let you see key numbers at a glance, including average monthly change in the selected period for all products and regions, as well as a sparkline to see the general trend.

Total cost
: See how much you're spending overall and how it's trending over time.

Cost per unit: Tracks average cost per item, helping you monitor efficiency and spot potential margin issues.

Cost concentration: Shows what share of your total cost comes from just the top 8 products. High concentration means your cost is driven by just a few items.
Cost breakdown
Cost by product category: A bird's-eye view of how your spending is distributed across product categories. Larger blocks signal higher cost impact. It's essentially a pie chart, but more accurate and detailed.

Top 6 countries by cost: Compares total cost per country, broken down by product category. Great for understanding where the biggest spend is coming from and why.
Time trends
Cost over time: Shows how total costs evolved month by month, helping you spot trends, seasonality, or sudden shifts.

Cost distribution over time: Reveals how the composition of your costs has changed, helping you see how certain categories have contributed to the cost.
Product-level insights
Top 8 products by cost: A quick look at which specific products are the biggest cost drivers. Useful for renegotiation, redesign, or replacement decisions.

Cost vs revenue: This is your power visual. It maps each product's cost against its revenue, helping you identify where to cut, optimize, or double down.

Data requirements

Required fields
Without these fields in your data export, we cannot build your dashboard.
Transaction ID – uniquely identifies each sale or entry (e.g. invoice number, order ID)
Transaction date – when the sale or transaction occurred
Revenue – how much money was earned per transaction
Cost – how much the product or service cost you (e.g. purchase, production, or delivery cost)
Product name or ID – which product or service was sold
Recommended data
These are not required, but including them will unlock full dashboard functionality
and make the results more valuable.
Sales volume – number of units sold or hours billed per transaction
Product categories – to group performance by type, category, or line
Customer data – to show patterns by buyer or segment
Location data – to compare performance across stores, regions, or areas
Other data – e.g. to filter by sales channel or internal tags
Preferred file formats
We recommend sending your data as Excel or CSV files,
hosted in OneDrive or SharePoint Online.
This setup enables seamless integration and scheduled refreshes.

Other formats may be supported by Power BI,
but we don’t guarantee compatibility or refresh support.
